BOARD MEETING MINUTES
WEKIVA GOLF VILLAS HOMEOWNERS’ ASSOCIATION
May 4, 2021
A board meeting of the Wekiva Golf Villas Homeowners’ Association was held on May 4, 2021 at the Wekiva Golf Villas Community Pool in Longwood, Florida.
Meeting called to order 6:30 p.m. by Steve Tretter.
Attendees: Steve Tretter, Larry Skinner, Ken Krause, Kirk Kief, Wendy Kief, Patrice Burke, John Carter
Introduction of current Board Members. Steve Tretter, president; Ken Krause, secretary; Larry Skinner, treasurer.
Confirmed that four proxies have been received prior to tonight’s meeting. Six additional voting homeowners (plus a spouse) were present in person. Thirteen WGVHOA homeowner votes required; hence a quorum was not established to hold this years Annual Meeting. Proxy votes submitted are available for the records.
We discussed the lack of participation at the Annual Meetings as well as all the other recent past Meetings. Kirk suggested an electronic application like “Survey Monkey” might be popular as a modern way to supplement the USPS mail-in and in-person methods. We need to pursue this or similar electronic methods to see if they are legal (another question to add to the list for our attorney)?
Without the ability to hold our Annual Meeting, the Board agreed to now hold an Organizational Meeting to pursue nominations to fill open Board vacancies and assign Board Positions * Note: Adam Kwater was Vice President and his three year term expired (and he is not present here to formally resign, as well as he & Teal sold their home; so there are two open positions):
Election of WGVHOA Board Members; Two homeowners, Wendy Kief and Patrice Burke, have placed their names in for nomination of the open Board positions. Steve seeks volunteer(s) to serve as committee / oversight to confirm acceptance of new incoming Board Members. Kirk Kief agrees to serve as Committee Member and confirms that there is only Wendy and Patrice volunteering to accept nomination of the two open positions.
New Board Members of the Wekiva Golf Villas Homeowners’ Association accepted and then internally agreed to the following officer positions:
- president: Steve Tretter
- vice-president: Wendy Kief
- treasurer: Larry Skinner
- secretary: Kenneth Krause
- member-at-large: Patrice Burke
Mention made of John Carter’s gracious contribution of hosting the website and the need to keeping content updated.
Steve opens the floor for any other issues or agenda:
We discussed “water expenses” and the need to monitor the area for leaks. The most recent main incoming water pipe broke in-ground and lost 35,000 gallons that Larry had to fight Utilities, Inc. to credit us for the “wastewater” charge.
We discussed maintenance of the pool exterior border wall. Steve will pursue this in the near future with WHCCA as he most recently convinced the master Wekiva Hunt Club Community Association to address installation of new plants at the three street entrances (even though we aren’t pleased with the lack of color & plant choices) as the master HOA is responsible for the entrances, border wall and adjacent sidewalk along E. Wekiva Trail properties. Our WHCCA annual assessment of $239 should be including maintenance of that exterior border wall just like the other Wekiva border walls they maintain.
Action item for Ken: Phone call WGVHOA Members that haven’t listed an email address and see if they want to list such. Also prepare mailing list submitted by Larry.
Steve moves to adjourn the Meeting; Wendy seconds. Meeting is adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
